‘Behind every successful woman is herself’.
Too literal but true.

Women are changing the status quo every day. The male gender has equally uplifted women by quoting “Behind every successful man is a strong woman’.

What are women entrepreneurs doing to become so successful and break social barriers? Women’s Day came and went, but this discussion is still worth the read.

What makes a successful woman entrepreneur? – The tomorrow people.

Passion

Doing what you love is an effortless chore. It’s something that comes naturally. You have fun whilst doing it and become a master of your art.

On top of it, your curiosity is peaked, and your thirst to know more and excel. Your ambition is naturally quenched.

Richard Branson once said: there is no greater thing you can do with your life and your work than follow your passions – in a way that serves the world and you.”

Women entrepreneurs are risk-takers and aren’t afraid to try. When you fall, the only way is up. Love what you do and put in the work, attention and find that inner drive.

Be open to change and take that ‘jump’.

The future is for those that take risks and women are not afraid to try new things.

Seek to learn- Be Open to Change

Learning is endless. When it comes to successfully running a business, information is king. It is promising and motivating to see great women and children like the great Malala Yousafzai fighting for the right to education for all.

Push to feed yourself with business knowledge and anything related to your field.

Look at UdemyHubspot AcademyCentonomy e.t.c for business courses online.

The most important thing is to understand your profession and what drives you so you can practice what you already know. Again the future is weaved by those that are willing to break social barriers and try new things.

Change is inevitable. Successful women understand this and adjust to change with the times.

Save

A new business takes longer to break ground and patience to break even. Taking a start-up off the ground costs money, some more than others.

Before you open your business, plan your finances and factor collateral and safety net plans.

The idea is to not only depend on your savings to finance your start-up. Get a small loan from a trusted loan company if you must.

Do not wait for that moment when you need money to start soliciting for funds.’

Women are known to be frugal and are good at budgeting and cost-cutting. Hey! Don’t take this skill for granted! It’s a plus.

Look for opportunity

Invest where you see a possibility for good returns. When you enter an existing market, think differently.

Think what else can be done in this field that has not been tapped? Look at women in technology for ideas on how to think out of the box. Dare to venture into uncharted territory.

However, do not go in blind. Do thorough research before taking that step.
Profits aside, a business with a flavorful market attracts investors.

How do you know your business idea will flourish? Are your concepts and business solving a problem?

Look at SDGs’ for direction. Investors will present themselves when a business seeks to solve a problem or makes a difference.

Do Market Research

Know your competition. It will keep you on your feet and abreast with all of the developments, setbacks, changes and ‘what nots’ regarding your business.

Keeping track of your competitors’ will also help you discover how to better your business.

The market research also helps you to plan for the future of your business by mapping out market projections and making calculated decisions to put you ahead of the game.

TeamWork

Successful women understand the dynamics of having the right team.

The fact that women are highly skilled at multitasking shows that they have the ability to run a team like a well-oiled machine.

Still, if you want to go far, you cannot do it alone. Get yourself surrounded and working with ambitious folk who are experts in your field of business.

Not only that, find someone that understands what you want to achieve and can help you get to where you want to go.

They should be your left leg and arms to thrust you forward.

Discipline

Have a routine that drives you to wake up each day looking forward to greater things.

Habits need to be learnt. Good habits improve your character and develop discipline.

Design a routine that involves creation, growth, and development. Not forgetting health and wellness.

Once you achieve your daily goals, you are set to accomplish monthly ones and long term goals in the long run. A journey of a thousand miles begins with 1 step.

Success leaves clues

Stay grounded but be open to opinions and advice. Success leaves clues. Work with industry leaders and learn from them.

Allow for all possible channels to enable you to get feedback from clients and your team as well. (check also: Why every small business needs a website)

Service delivery is one of those things that help to keep your ship above water. That is why feedback is essential.

They are there to keep you in check not make you settle for less. Take it as an avenue for growth and expansion to align with what people need from your service.

With all that said, remember to have proper networks and get yourself a mentor.

Align yourself with women in the world that you would want to emulate through your entrepreneurship or growth journey.

As women, we have had to work harder and smarter to level up to 1st level status.

We need to empower each other and mentor those that come after us to take on the world with boldness and conviction. Every day is Women’s day! It starts with us.
