What is Zenka?

Zenka is the most flexible personal loan platform on the market, giving Kenyans more control over their finances with its unique features. We offer a simple registration and application process, after which you will receive your loan straight to your M-Pesa account.

Is my data secure with Zenka?

Zenka uses state-of-the-art encryption techniques to make sure your data is always 100% secure. Your data is never shared with or sold to third parties, unless for specific reasons like reporting to authorized Credit Bureaus. Please read our Terms and Conditions for more details.

What languages does Zenka support?

For our mobile app, we support only English.

Registration and application (Mobile App)

How can I get access to Zenka loans?

Our lending platform can be accessed through our android app you can download from Zenka.co.ke.

What information is required to register in Zenka?

We require minimum information for your convenience. All we need is your first name, last name, National ID, answer to a security question of the choices provided and a 4-digit PIN number.

What is the security question used for?

Security question is a personal question to which you need to provide an answer. Your answer can be used as backup to safely change your PIN number.

To ensure greater safety of your account please do not share the answer to your security question with any other person.

How do I register with Zenka?

Once you’ve installed the Zenka App, kindly follow these steps:
1. Download and start the application,
2. Click on “Sign up”,
3. Enter your first name, last name and National ID
4. Choose a security question and enter your answer,
5. Enter a 4-digit PIN number,
6. Follow the link and read our Terms and Conditions,
7. Click on “Agree and sign up” and you will receive an SMS with a 4-digit verification code,
8. Check if the code is auto-filled or Input the code and click “Done”.

You’ve just successfully registered with Zenka and can proceed with the loan application.

I'm already registered in Zenka, how do I apply for a loan?

The whole process is simplified, kindly follow these steps:
1. Start the application,
2. Select your loan amount and term,
3. Click on “Get loan”,
4. Receive your offer details and click on “Get loan”.

After an instant verification process, you will receive your loan straight to your M-Pesa account.

What Credit Refference Bureaus does Zenka check and report to?

We check and report to Metropol, TransUnion and CreditInfo.

What data is used by Zenka during its lending decision process?

To fulfill our role as a responsible lender, we take many factors into account when evaluating your creditworthiness including your prior history with us, data from your mobile phone and information received from Credit Reference Bureaus.

Can I access and change the information provided during the registration?

You can access your information after logging in to the Zenka App. Once logged in, kindly click on the Profile Icon located under the Menu button. The information displayed will contain your first name, last name, phone number, National ID and a button that allows you to change your PIN number.

I am already logged in; how can I change my PIN number?

Kindly click on the Profile Icon located under the Menu button of the application and click on “Change PIN”. Select your new PIN, confirm and click on “Save new PIN”.

I forgot my PIN number; how can I log in to the Zenka app?

In case you forgot your PIN number and are not logged in, kindly follow these steps:
1. Start the application,
2. Click on “Sign in”,
3. Click on “Forgot PIN?” located on the top right side of the application,
4. Provide an answer to the security question and click “Continue”,
5. Select your new PIN, confirm and click on “Save new PIN”.

How much can I borrow from Zenka?

You can borrow from KSh 500 to KSh 30,000.

How can I increase my loan limit?

The fastest way to receive higher amounts is to build credit with a positive repayment history with Zenka, easily achieved with successive timely repaid loans.

What repayment terms are available?

We offer loans with 61-day term payable in 2 instalments.

What fees does Zenka charge?

We charge commission fees starting from 5% for each loan.

Does Zenka cover mobile money or mobile carrier transaction fees?

We kindly inform that you are required to cover any mobile money and mobile carrier fees.

Can I have two or more Zenka loans at the same time?

You can only have one Zenka loan at a time though you can get additional amounts up to your loan limit.

Additional loan amounts and top ups (Mobile)

What are additional amounts?

Additional amounts are a flexible feature that allows you to top up your existing loan with extra cash, up to your current credit limit.

What are the requirements to apply for additional loan amount?

To apply for an additional loan amount, you need to have an active loan and your loan principal must be below your credit limit.

How can I apply for additional loan amounts?

Once you have met the requirements to receive an additional loan amount, kindly follow these steps: Start your application. Then, on the slider, select your additional loan amount and click on “Apply now”.
After an instant verification process, you will receive your loan straight to your M-Pesa account.

What fees does Zenka charge for the additional amounts?

For additional amounts, the commission fee is the same as the fee charged for your active loan.

How many times can I apply for additional loan amounts?

You can apply for additional amounts many times unless your credit limit is exhausted.

Will the due date change after I receive additional loan amount?

We kindly inform that a successful additional amount application has no effect on the original loan due date.

Loan extensions (Mobile App)

What are loan extensions?

Loan extensions are a feature that gives you more control over your loan by letting you postpone your due date by 7, 14 or 30 days.

What are the requirements to apply for a loan extension?

To apply for a loan extension, you need to have an active loan that is not 30 days past due.

How can I apply for a loan extension?

Once you have met the requirements to receive a loan extension, please kindly follow these steps:
1. Start the application,
2. Select your extension term,
3. Click on “Extend now”, an extension screen with offer details will appear,
4. Click on “Extend” and follow the payment link.
After your extension payment is successfully processed the due date of your loan will be updated and you’ll receive an SMS notification.

When can I apply for a loan extension?

You can apply for an extension from the first day the loan is active up to 30 days past the due date.

What are the extension fees?

The fee depends on the extension term and will be displayed upon request of extension.

Can I get an additional amount once I extend my loan?

Kindly check if the offer is available to you.

How many times can I extend my loan?

There are no limits to the number of times you can extend your loan.

Repayments and due dates (Mobile App)

I have an active loan. Where can I check my loan details?

To check your loan details, kindly log in to your Zenka App to find all the loan information including your loan balance, principal balance, fees balance and due dates.

Will I be informed of my upcoming due date?

You will be notified by SMS of your upcoming loan due date.

How can I repay my loan?

To repay your loan, please kindly follow these steps:
1. Start the application,
2. Scroll down and click on “Repay”,
3. Select or edit the default repayment amount (open amount),
4. Click on “Repay now” and follow the Payment Link.
After your payment has been processed you will receive an SMS notification.

When penalty fees are applied if I don't repay my loan by due date?

We kindly inform that a 1.5% penalty rate from outstanding principal will be applied per each day of delay. To ensure your credit history is not negatively impacted please always make sure to repay your loans on time.

Are there any automatic roll-over loan fees?

No. Zenka does not charge any automatic roll-over fees.

I can not repay my loan. What are my options?

If you cannot repay your loan on time, please check what features are available to you or contact our Collection Service. We kindly inform that we reserve the right to report any delinquencies to the authorized Credit Reference Bureaus.
